Desire2Dance is an award winning, rapidly growing, friendly ISTD Dance school based in Crawley, founded in 2016. We currently offer dance lessons for boys and girls in ISTD Ballet, Modern, Tap and Zumba Kids as well as Adult classes in Ballet, Tap, Zumba and Pilates. Opportunities to take part in festivals, performance and to take examinations. Desire2Dance are proud to have been selected as Winners of Dance School of Year - West Sussex 2020 in the Prestige Awards and were Finalists for Dance School of the Year 2019.
ISTD stands for Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and all of our exams take place with the ISTD. Children work their way through the grades when they are ready. We spent 3 years of teacher training to qualify as an ISTD teacher so that we can teach ISTD classes to your children. Prior to this we also worked our way through all the grades as a child ourselves.
Miss Kayleigh, the Principal is proud to hold her ISTD Level 3 Diploma in Dance Instruction and Level 4 Diploma in Dance Education in all three genres. This means you can guarantee your child is taught by a qualified, insured teacher who regularly attends CPD courses with the ISTD to ensure her knowledge is current and up to date. We also hold an enhanced DBS check and first aid training.
Your child’s development is important to us, we aim to aid children with their natural developmental skills and turn this into an art which is also fun and enjoyable at the same time. Students can work towards exams in all three styles of dance where they will be supported and guided every step of the way and at the end of it they will have their own personal achievement. This is something as a school we feel very passionate about, especially as dance classes become part of a child’s life, it is always good to have something to show for their commitment.

Modern Dance Modern Dance is an energetic dance style. This style is seen in musical productions and can be further developed into more specific styles such as Commercial and Street as students mature. This style works on motor skills such as travelling steps and turns them into dance. It also works on strength and flexibility by using movements such as turns and jumps. Ballet Dance Ballet Dance is a very well known style, working on grace and control in one’s movement. This style uses arm positions and varying leg lines to create an effortless image. Ballet technique is an important part to any dancers training. Learning the basis of any dance form and developing the strength and control required in any dance style. Ballet is recommended alongside any other style of dance. Tap Dance Tap Dance is another dance form seen in musical productions. A dancer uses their feet to create sounds on the floor. The dancer creates different rhythmical patterns by wearing tap shoes which have metal plates on the ball and heel of the foot. The musicality required for Tap Dance also aids a dancer in their musicality in other dance forms.
Zumba® and Zumba® Kids Zumba® is a fitness class that combines dance and fitness moves, inspired by Latin dance and music. Zumba® uses a variety of styles in its routines, including Cumbia, Merengue, Salsa, Reggaeton, Mambo, Rumba, Flamenco and Hip Hop. Zumba® Kids and Kids. Jr classes are rockin' high-energy dance parties packed with kid-friendly routines. We break down steps, add games, activities and cultural exploration elements into the class structure. Classes help to develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of children's lives.
Pilates Pilates is a form of exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve general fitness and overall well-being. Similar to Yoga, Pilates concentrates on posture, balance and flexibility. In Pilates the chance of injury is much lower than with other more strenuous forms of exercise.
